Update the RapidClaw Business Central Extension

For administrators updating an existing RapidClaw for Business Central installation in Business Central online.

Extension updates are separate from runtime updates

The Business Central extension supplies the RapidClaw launcher and business context. Updating that extension does not, by itself, upgrade an installed OpenClaw runtime. Hosted Setup and runtime releases have their own lifecycle; not every RapidClaw release requires a new extension.

Before you begin

  • Confirm the Microsoft tenant, Business Central environment name, and whether it is Sandbox or Production. App updates apply to the environment, not just the company currently open in Business Central.
  • Use an account authorized to manage apps for that environment. Record the installed RapidClaw extension version and review the release instructions.
  • Confirm your recovery plan and test in a sandbox before production where practical. Plan verification with the people who administer RapidClaw.

Apply a Marketplace extension update

  1. Open the Business Central administration center for your tenant. Select Environments, choose the intended environment, then open Manage Apps.
  2. Select the Global app type for Marketplace apps. Find RapidClaw for Business Central and check its publisher, installed version, and available update.
  3. Use the action in Next Update to install the compatible version offered. Resolve any listed dependency requirements first.
  4. Review the confirmation. Install now or select Schedule update in the next update window. Prefer a time outside normal working hours because users may need to sign out and back in.
  5. Wait for completion and verify the installed version. A scheduled update is not complete until its scheduled operation succeeds.

Microsoft's Manage Apps guide explains update actions, dependencies, and failure details. An update may not be offered if it is incompatible with your Business Central version.

Verify RapidClaw after the update

  1. Reopen Business Central in the intended environment and company. Search for RapidClaw and open its Setup entry point.
  2. Verify the tenant, environment, and company context and confirm that your existing deployment is recognized. If an unexpected new deployment is offered, stop and check the context.
  3. Open Command Center and check Business Central connection readiness and the existing agents and safety settings. Use a permitted read-only check before resuming affected work.
  4. Complete only the additional steps specified in the release instructions. An extension update alone is not a reason to rerun deployment or change approvals.

If the update fails or is not available

Check the selected environment and app type first. Review the update failure details and outstanding requirements. Share the installed and target versions, Business Central version, environment name, and operation ID or error with your partner. Remove credentials and tokens from anything you send.

Updating is not uninstalling or resetting

Do not uninstall the extension, delete its data, reset RapidClaw, or remove Azure resources to obtain an update. Those are separate operations with different consequences. Your sandbox or production licensing requirements also remain unchanged.
