A shared runtime idea. Different operating models.
Microsoft's June announcement described Scout as powered by OpenClaw. Its September announcement renamed Scout to Autopilot, a persistent agent within the Microsoft Copilot experience. This supports the broader role of persistent agents; it is not a Microsoft endorsement of RapidClaw.
RapidClaw packages OpenClaw as a business operating environment in the customer's Azure subscription. The useful distinction is who operates the environment, connects the systems, governs execution, and pays for consumption, not a claim that one product is universally better.
Where the environment runs
Autopilot is part of Microsoft's managed Copilot experience. RapidClaw deploys its OpenClaw runtime and operating services into customer-owned Azure resources; it is not a RapidStart-hosted agent service.
Customer ownership brings responsibility for Azure access, deployment readiness, configuration, and ongoing consumption. RapidClaw supplies the deployment and operating controls; ownership does not remove those responsibilities.
Models and consumption
RapidClaw lets administrators choose models per agent from those deployed and available in their environment. Azure infrastructure and model usage are billed separately by Microsoft or the configured provider.
Microsoft describes Autopilot as usage-billed, with administrative controls for models and spending. Compare current terms and actual workloads; neither approach is automatically cheaper.
Connections and business context
Microsoft positions Autopilot within the Microsoft 365 work context. RapidClaw connects through Microsoft Graph and governed, compatible MCP servers. Administrators review the tools, permissions, and policies that each connection exposes.
RapidClaw for Business Central adds the official Business Central MCP connection and finance and operations specialists. RapidClaw for RapidStart Apps adds governed Dataverse access and Agent Packs matched to installed CRM, Project, and Field Service apps.
Operate and govern the AI team
RapidClaw Command Center brings agents, schedules, approvals, activity, models, usage, costs, Teams, email, backups, and health into one operating surface. Arcy helps administrators prepare changes for review. Emergency Stop pauses governed execution when intervention is needed.
Microsoft describes its own identity, permissions, audit, and governance controls for Autopilot. This comparison does not assume Microsoft lacks equivalent controls or make claims about its internal runtime topology or administrator access.
Licensing and coexistence
No Microsoft Copilot license is required for RapidClaw. RapidClaw can be used independently or alongside Microsoft Copilot. Product licensing and Azure or model-provider charges still apply under the relevant terms.
A Microsoft-managed experience may fit teams that prefer Microsoft to operate the service. RapidClaw may fit organizations that want to operate their own Azure-based OpenClaw environment with business-specific agents and connections. An organization can use both for different workloads.

Is RapidClaw a replacement for Microsoft Copilot?
No. It offers a different operating model for an AI team and can coexist with Microsoft Copilot. Choose according to the workload and the responsibilities your organization wants to own.
Does RapidClaw require a Microsoft Copilot license?
No. RapidClaw does not require a Microsoft Copilot license. Its own product terms and Azure infrastructure and model-consumption charges still apply.
Is RapidClaw hosted by RapidStart?
No. The environment is deployed into the customer's Azure subscription. Deployment assistance and support do not change that hosting boundary.
Can administrators work directly with OpenClaw?
Yes. Advanced administrators can access the underlying OpenClaw environment. Command Center remains the primary operating surface; direct access does not remove permission, policy, or operational responsibilities.
